Interested in beginning Ashtanga Yoga practice?
Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a traditional powerful yet subtle yoga that synchronises breath with movement to slowly unveil not only the strength, flexibility and vitality of the physical body but also, over time, the rediscovery of the practitioners fullest potential on all levels of human consciousness, control of the senses and a deep awareness of their selves. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is the source of most vinyasa, power and flow style yogas that are popular in the West today.
In these three workshops Barbora will teach you majority of the poses of Ashtanga Yoga Primary series sequence in a led class format. Correct breathing and alignment will be addressed. You will learn the fundamentals of this strong and transformative practice, including breath, bandha and drishti.
Meeting one Sunday morning every month for three months will enable you to get familiar as well as comfortable and maybe even memorise the sequence to become independent and start your own home practice.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions while acquiring basic knowledge of the physical and spiritual aspects of the practice. All levels of students are welcome and appropriate for those new to the Ashtanga vinyasa yoga practice. Taking all three workshops is recommended.
30/9 Workshop 1: Focus on the fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga (breath, drishti, bandha), chanting (mantras), Surya Namaskar A and B (Sun Salutations) and standing positions.
21/10 Workshop 2: Exploring the rest of the standing poses and some sitting postures.
18/11 Workshop 3: Remaining sitting postures and finishing poses explained.
